Ok i absolutely loved the game the whole vibe was so nice and so incredibly fun to experience
Julian was a delightful menace and so was mc and Riku was doing his best tm, and we love him for that
also, Jun the man the myth the absolute legend it was truly so very enjoyable to watch mc and li have a moment while Jun is just there questioning his life bear themed life choices (i kinda want his route bc i know i just know it'd be amazing)
JULIAN IS MY SOULMATE! I went in hoping to get Riku and I wound up on Julian's route and it was the best mistake I've ever made. That man is the chaos gremlin that I needed in my life. I just vibed with him on so many things and I genuinely felt bad getting the bad ends, because it HURT to hurt him like that!
I had so much fun playing his route, and I plan on going back for Riku soon!! Thank you so much for creating this amazing game!
This game is so much fun. I played both Julian and Riku's routes. Honestly, I really like Julian, he's so funny and childish. Riku is more quiet and shy. But they're both adorable. I really like thist game<333
Only complaint is that Riku's voice tends to get drowned out a bit too much when he is quiet or mumbles. Also, Jun is officially the first grumpy side character I have ever wanted to get to know more about. Cute game keep up the good work
I've created an acc just to say I love this game!!! Both stories are fun, but I have to admit that I'm in love with Riku. His story is so more emotional, I got very involved with it.
And the visuals of the game??? So pretty! The plot is great, the voices are great, everything is amazing <3

Beautiful eye-catching visuals, clean UI, charming writing, and good length. If you're looking for something cute and silly, this is a great way to spend a couple of hours. It's just a fun time meant to make you smile and perhaps yearn over a cute boy or two, and it does that very well!
I do have a question, however. Is there any particular reason why Ren'py's built in "history" screen is cut from the game? It's a huge quality of life feature, and the lack of it did sadly hinder my experience with the game.

For the missing history screen: honestly, it was a mix of reasons; UI clutter, it getting missed (by me) initially, and thinking most players would just use the rollback feature (scroll or right-click) to review past text. That said, we totally get how important it is, and we’ll be adding it back in a future update!

I feel indebted to the long review haha. The typos in Knee Deep have been fixed a few days after release (you were an early victim, sorry about that!) Background art was limited to 5 only, given that the team was made up of volunteers and had just a month and a half to work on the game. We'll be trying to fix those soon~
I see. I was honestly under the impression there was no rollback, but that must've purely been a me issue since I play on a dying laptop with a wonky trackpad 😓 I apologize for including it as a negative in my review.
And I'm happy to hear those typos have been fixed for Knee Deep! I did notice text/visual inconsistencies in your first game as well (which I played right before this one), such as the young girl (Rin) being described as having silver hair despite her hair being brown. That is why I felt the need to mention it being a somewhat reoccurring thing in these games, and why I was happy to see that the character designs are consistent with in-game text here. While this game didn't have any inconsistencies in the text and character sprites, the backgrounds were sometimes distracting. (Ex: Julian's shopping spree was said to be in the city, but the background was a park.)
There are other inconsistencies that I mentioned in my review, such as some choices having unclickable buttons restating the question, or transitions between scenes being different without much rhyme or reason behind it. (Some were instant, some where quick fades to black, some required the player to click for the dialogue to start...) These are little things, but I found them personally difficult to ignore. (But I could also just be nitpicky 😓)
I do however completely understand that a lot of this game was volunteer work and you guys were on a time crunch due to it being for a game jam. I imagine game development and coordinating things with your team is far from easy. The fact that this was finished in not even two months is very impressive, and you guys should be proud of that!
I had no interest in dating julian or riku so I had to get the alone endings which are fine (if not a bit dramatic) but it would be cool if we could date jun, I thought he was the most interesting character
I never expected to fall for Julian, he's amazinggg! He got me giggling for someone who gets annoyed too easily. I adored his playfulness and the voice acting is impressive!
I said Id wait for the full game to come out and I did! And I am happy I did!!
The voice acting is so good, I love the humor in the story its very light hearted <3 Ill marry Riku and we'll adopt our Golden-Retriever Julian xD
The only thing I found a bit odd was the music choice for the "romantic" moments, it didn't feel very romantic and more melancholic or like sth bad is about to happen. Could be just me though xD
Anyway, I am sad it was so short D:Hope the next one is longer (I need more Riku ngl)
Loving Riku isn't a hobby, it's a full-time job with no benefits, no vacation days, and I have zero intentions of quitting. It’s a lifestyle, a daily ritual, a sacred calling. I don’t just wake up and think about Riku, I rise like a story written as bright as the stars. There hasn’t been a single day when this man hasn’t invaded my thoughts, tbh. It's like he owns the place. Honestly, at this point, I should start charging him rent because he constantly crosses my mind, every single minute, or even second. He’s the reason I get up in the morning because I need to check if there’s new fanarts, Chapters, or lore crumbs to obsess over with full interest. Riku is my motivation, my distraction, and honestly, my therapist at this point. Just remember Riku is my favourite character, which means that I'm somewhat uncomfortable at the thought of someone liking him more than me. Please remember he's mine, and only mine. Under no circumstances should ANYONE ever touch my glorious Riku without my honest, fully complete, approved consent (Note: I am a simp) ALSO I LOVE THIS GAME >3
this game tastes better than parental love. riku has my heart, soul, money, virginity, etc...the writers had me laughing like i'm watching kids fall on concrete. 10/10!!!
Hi again! I really liked Riku for this new route! Although I will say I enjoyed Julian's route a bit more, I did really like how wholesome this route was and how cute Riku is constantly. Great job with the art and voice acting, it makes the cute story even more enjoyable! Good luck on the game jams and have a great day!
